Glass Mosaic Paneling
Many of today’s styles for wall coverings are designed first for ease of fitting and secondly for how they look, but glass mosaic paneling is one of those materials that are the other way around. People who want to use this look in their homes accept that it will take a little longer than effects such as bamboo paneling but will also achieve the exact look they need to complete the room.
Glass mosaics are made from small pieces of cut glass which are fixed into place with an adhesive. These smaller pieces work together to form a bigger picture, which can either be worked into as a solid mural or as smaller panels that can then be pieced together. Many glass panels will be sold as pieces of art in their own right, which can then be displayed as any painting or photograph would on the wall. Depending on the craftsmanship of the panel and the size, these can be quite an investment for the homeowner, but will definitely be the talking point of the room.
Some people want to tackle the task head-on and create their own paneling from individual glass parts. Although it does require some planning for the pattern and placement of the glass pieces, the process of setting them in place is actually very easy. It is a great activity for getting younger family members involved in the decoration of the home and is also an excellent way to work the personal touch into the house. Mixed media can also be worked in for different colors and textures.
